We are coming to the end of our truly blissful holiday. We would like to thank you for your friendly and informed welcome to the island. The house is a perfect paradise to return to after a days surfing at the beautiful beaches nearby.  We look forward to returning to this perfect paradise in the future.

Colin has taken some stunning photos of birds, deer, and scenery and these plus our many memories will no doubt inspire many paintings and sketches.  Gladstone House is tastefully decorated and well equipped with stunning views. We will have no hesitation in recommending it.

We came here to speak at a Conference organised by the Islands Book Trust at the Old School Shawbost. Tonight is the last night and we have been to the Sulaire in Ness otherwise we have been cooking with very good facilities at Gladstone House and can highly recommend your cottage to everyone. Thanks for your generous hospitality.

It's difficult to find something to say that hasnt been said by others!
Who needs the med when you have the silver sands  and aqua marine waters of Eoropaidh, Nis and Swainbost all to yourselves. When asked on our last night (whilst eating fish and chips from the Sweeney Cod by the harbour) what was the best part of the holiday, our girls age 7.5 and 5 said 'all of it'.  High praise indeed.

How I will miss that wonderful view when I am back in Belgium.  We were glad there was a laptop with instant connection so that we could check the weather and send mail and photos to the kids. We enjoyed several visits to the Eoropie tearoom for tea and cakes and lunches. Callanish Stones are better than Stonehenge!

First thing is that a week is not enough. The Ranger walks (Tues &Thurs 2pm, see Magaidh's notes) are really well worth it - our guide Julie is incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about this part of Lewis, especially the astonishing (and largely unrecognised) archaeology and flora on the machair. Dun Filiscleitir is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been
to. It has been such a treat to return from our adventures each day to such a comfortable base.  Everything we could have wished for has been thought of. Magaidh and Donald you got it just right.

“Anyone staying on the Isle of Lewis needs to view Gladstone House if not they are really missing a trick.  Magaidh and Donald you have really taken self catering to another level with your property. The thoughtful touches to the house was way beyond our expectations. The beaches are great with each one offering a different adventure.  This has been a totally relaxing holiday with fabulous accommodation, hosts, views, beaches, food and plenty to do to fill our two weeks.”

”We have had a wonderful time in this truly amazing part of the world. Lots of fantastic skies with clouds of grey, purple, orange, blue. The light is incredible, constantly changing. The moors, beaches and the rocks, all good. We have been constantly exploring with our cameras. The accommodation is outstanding. So well appointed.”

”The view is lovely and we have even managed to spot eagles (binoculars provided) while sat on the sofa. The park at Eoropie is brilliant. I think we must have been in it every day. We have had a lovely stay here and will definitely recommend it to friends and family.

”Good cycle trips to the beaches and the lighthouse and we enjoyed the tearoom for lunches and cakes!  Morven Gallery was good for coffee and cakes and great artwork. Unfortunately our planned trip to St Kilda did not materialise due to bad weather on the day and I guess we will have to return!“

”The cottage certainly has the WOW factor. Sunbathing at Eoropie beach, candles and champagne on the deck. We're getting spoilt.”

”We arrived in the rain and it continued to rain for the next 24 hours. Then the sun came out and Lewis was transformed. A week is not enough but it allowed us to relax and visit spectacular sites - archaeological dig at Dun Eisdean (although the bridge is not easy – don’t look down!!  Iron Age House at Great Bernera, Uig, Callanish Stones. We would recommend Eoropie and its excellent tearoom. Thank you for  a very comfortable house, the treats and the books - its a shame we could not read them all. It has been a holiday we will never forget. We will be back.”

”Walking around the Butt of Lewis is stunning and we've seen porpoises, basking shark at Eoropie and still so much to see despite cramming in heaps over the past 7 days. Our visit has been all that we hoped for and more.”

‘What a beautiful house in a wonderful setting. Wonderful, romantic with such gorgeous beaches so close by, it’s been a fabulous week’ We'll definitely be recommending the place to our friends, it was so well equipped, cosy and romantic, not to mention clean & comfortable. The owners are very friendly!  And it's just such a beautiful area - the views alone from the house are something I could sit and look at for hours! I definitely miss that view.

Sophie loved the playpark, excellent and we had delicious cake in the Tea Rooms. Tom enjoyed surfing during his visit and the accommodation, brilliant – the cherry on the cake! We have been more than comfortable in your lovely and immaculate holiday home – a view to die for too!

We have had a lovely time here the house is beautiful and so well equipped. We’ve enjoyed staying in the Hebrides. The peace and quiet of Sunday was so lovely. It feels like home from home – we’ll be back.

We stayed here for a week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had good meals at the Cross Inn and Doune Braes Hotel where we saw a huge owl asleep on a post!  We played on the Adventure playground at Europie which was very good and enjoyed cakes in the tearoom. We also went on Seatrek where we saw seals, otters and herrings. PS. We really liked the fudge.
